Blip Fest 2012

Blip Fest is in Melbourne this year for the first time. Check it out and see some of the world's best circuit bending artists playing over two nights at the Evelyn. Some of this style of music can be boring, but I imagine at a bigger event like this there should be some awesome stuff...

Lego Vandalism

Lego animation has been done so much there's almost nothing left to do with it that could be interesting. This little short did the trick...

Two-Shay : G-Town's Finest

Dane Manning's art and design work has impressed me for almost a decade now. His taste in cinema and art allowed me to share quality conversations with him, years before I actually knew him, when he shared a flat with a good friend of mine in Geelong.

Some time over the past five years, he began to specialise in Japanese style tattoo design. You can see dodgy versions of this style in almost every tattoo shop these days, but most artists can't resist the temptation to add some Western "coolness" to the images, by adding Marvel body shapes, or some kind of modern twist which destroys the traditional appeal of this artform. Dane has been obsessed with this style for years now, and with a tattoo apprenticeship underway, I'm sure he'll be the go-to guy for purists in Australia seeking this kind of tattoo design in years to come. His work is as authentic as I've seen in this country....
