Modern Philosophy for Men : Maddox

As a Production Planner at a semi-trailer manufacturer for five years, I spent a lot of the time bored out of my mind, surrounded by people who had never read a book, and thought that you were some kind of 'poofter' if you did. There was one clever old Scot who had been to Isle of Wight festival when Hendrix played, and he knew a lot of art and literature, but besides that, I was alone.

 One of my lunchtime luxuries was reading Maddox's essays. I had read everything he had published at the time, but for some reason when I quit my job and moved house, I forgot to check back on ol' Maddox. A friend brought him up in conversation on the weekend, and I was rapt to have a whole bunch of new material to catch up on. He's even done three episodes of his own web series!  I hope he does a shitload more.

Maddox is one of the great voices of our generation, and a welcome kick of reality in this sea of fake, self-promoting, journalistic shit we have online these days...
